Rodolfo Caporali



Rodolfo Caporali (Rome, 12 feb. 1906 – Rome 24 oct. 2004) was an italian pianist and teacher.
He studied with Alfonso Rendano (pupil of Georges Mathias) and Alfredo Casella.
He has performed in Italy, Europe, America e North Africa with more than 60 conductors, among which Carlo Maria Giulini, Vittorio Gui, Mario Rossi, Bruno Maderna, Georg Solti, Georges Prêtre, Lorin Maazel.
He was juror in the most important piano international competitions, among which Santander Paloma O’Shea competition 1977 , Geneva international competition ( many times, in 1957 he was president e gave the prize to Marta Argerich), Moscow Tschaikovskij international competition ( 1978 winner Mikhail Pletnev), Chopin Warsaw international competition (1980, juror along with M.Argerich, the year of the Pogorelich “affaire”), F.Busoni international competition Bolzano.
He taught piano 40 years at Conservatorio di S. Cecilia of Rome and then at Accademia di S. Cecilia the master course. From 1965 he was Accademico di S. Cecilia, and for many years he wa also vicepresident.
He wa salso member of Accademia Filarmonica Romana.
Among his pupils the most famous are Giuseppe Postiglione (prematurely dead in 1962), Roberto Cappello and Giovanni Velluti.
